Seeger watch

Were the trees possibly invasive Russian Olives?

Before the olives invaded. These are photos from Boyd Marts that are featured in The Flyfish Journal issue 13.3.
This is mid 70s and the fisherman is Boyd's brother Bill. Some of you know Bill from the Blue Dun Fly shop days. Great guys and quite the team.

I know some think of the Russian olive trees as weeds. Well, I get that, but they get big. Here's one of the big ones at the launch back in 2022. Also...how bad do you want to fish? I'm guessing not a lot of people want to fish as bad as the dude on crutches did. 💪

I remember fishing the other large lake in that area in the late 70s and standing on a shelf caused by the sand dunes. Now it is covered with tall reeds. Weather should be better this year. It’s going to be 55 degrees here today. If it warms up in the mountains next week and skiing conditions are bad, I may join you for a day.

Drove 161, 512, 167, 18 to I-90 because white pass was FROZEN this morning...

The lake was a shock looks like the state cut down the trees at the put in and added some big rock 4-6 inches on the last slope down to the lake.

But I am home after a year without, it feels good... even if it will only be 13 days...

What's up with 13 days?

What's up with 13 days?
Well, now it's down to 10, I have to run to Portland on the 5-7th for a family funeral (just found out yesterday). I will be coming back to the lot, and fishing until the 14th, to go to another family funeral... we have lost 3 in the last month, all from the same generation. And I was raised right, we which means family first.

Then my wife "volunteered" us to babysit our 3 granddaughters (under 7) the last week of the month, veggie all the funeral stuff. So I will be happy with the days I can get.

I hope to see you.
