OMG y’all are absolutely precious! 😁

I noticed a lot of single speed cruisers downtown having coffee this morning, really popular it seems. I don't think I've ridden one in years.

I am a big fan of the large saddle with springs.

When I was a kid we would go on a family beach vacation annually. I always thought it would be so cool to ride my bike (a Huffy BMX) on the beach, but never got the chance. One cool thing about being a grown up is you can sometimes live your dream!

My Strava goals for 2025 are 4,000 miles and 200,000' of climbing - well ahead of both goals at this point.

3 gravel bikes, 3 road bikes and a mountain bike in the garage.

I prefer gravel riding to get away from people and cars but most of my miles are on pavement. All six of them are very nice bikes but whenever possible, I ride the newest, a Parlee Taos gravel bike. It's currently running 50mm tires that blow up to 53mm with these very wide rims. Super comfy at 25psi and still very fast.

When I'm not on this one, I'm usually on a Specialized Roubaix, also a very comfortable bike. The others don't get much road time but I'm a little too sentimental (or lazy) to sell them.

With my lumbar spine fused and caged, I can't ride a bike like @Tom Butler is showing. Sadly I've got 2 of them collecting dust and taking up space. One is a very old Takara 12 speed. The other a Schwinn.

Since I need an upright position, anyone have suggestions ?

and no cigarettes for some time, this might work.
Tom, it took me 9 tries over 18 years before I quit cold turkey. You'll know you're winning when the smell of smokers around you make you sick, and your smoking friends call you bad names for a few days. 20 years smoke free this year and don't miss it at all.
You might also notice your social circle might change a bit.

There are shock absorbing seat posts and head sets that might help. I haven't used the seat posts, but have a friend who has.

A recumbent can often provide a comfortable solution to such issues.

Have done many century and double centuries on conventional road bikes and recumbents...there's simply no comparison in terms of comfort.

I always say: make sure to get onto a Heavy Bike. You need a HEAVY BIKE for various reasons. These Heavy Bikes intimidate!! Don California rode a Heavy Bike to the court case hearing where they locked him up for 30 days. Then the Heavy bike was ridden home!!!! For said reasons it is vital to get into a Heavy Bike When making bike purchasing DECISIONS.

Thanks guys. Recumbents are far, far out of my price range. I do have an old Huffy "Mountain Bike" hanging here in the Penna property. After seeing one suggestion, I might take it to a local bike shop (there's 4 within 5 miles) and see if they can do any upgrades to it. That nice springer seat, sounds like a good start as well as upgraded brakes and gearing.

Been getting some longer rides in, almost 3hr now, and liking it. Bought a Trek Checkpoint gravel bike with entry level Apex for now. These things are fun, I see why their popular. Rode a bunch of 'em but this one fits and feels like my road bike. I see the spokane went dry, our stream are not much better, I'll just take a break and get fit. Know of several places this will provide deep access later.
