I wonder if the day is past us when such an honest, non-self serving and truly fine human being can be elected as our president. Agree with his policies or not the man was true to his beliefs and did , for his entire life, do what he believed what was best for others.

He set the bar for integrity in public office and we haven't gotten close since.

The world would be a better place if everyone was more like Jimmy Carter, Mr. Rogers, Bob Ross, and Keanu Reaves.

The Fly Fisherman President and a man of faith to the end. He left the Southern Baptist Convention because their stance on women did not reflect his Christian beliefs. He also left because he felt that the SBC sought to ostracize rather than serve its members! RIP Jimmy Carter and hope you have a happy reunion with Rosalynn.

My family is from central Georgia and revered Jimmy & Rosalyn. My mother even saved her expired drivers license that had his signature from when he was governor as a keepsake.
In my day job, we have a long-term partnership with his non-profit on the eradication of Guinea Worm which is super close to being accomplished. I wish we had more people like Jimmy that are being elevated as role models instead of what seems to be more popular these days.

Jimmy had a deep love for his wife, for his country, and for mankind. He never waivered from that.

Jimmy had metastic melanoma in 2015. A sure death sentence.
He helped introduce the world to immunotherapy. Millions of people are now alive due to his introduction and support of it.

"I have one life and one chance to make it count for something… My faith demands - this is not optional - that I do whatever I can, wherever I am, whenever I can, for as long as I can, with whatever I have, to try to make a difference."

A man of convictions and principles who lived them every day...and did make a difference.

If ever there was a man that defined humility, graciousness, and of being of service to others, it was him.
A loss for me personally, for our country, and the world.
Thank You Mr. President. Thank You.

Thank you, Mr. Mitchell, for the great work on the eradication of the guinea worm. I understand that the job is 99.9% done, but the hardest part is the final .1%.

We will miss Jimmy Carter in my family.

^Mark lives across the Sound from us and Joel is my FIL.
My brother has a letter from Jimmy and Rosalynn thanking him and his wife for the homegrown figs they sent to the Carters.

His tenure as President may not have been successful, but it was the last time that the USA was viewed by many as a beacon of liberty and justice. Now, our nation is viewed as just one more bully...

I heard an impressive interview with one of President Carter's staff yesterday that reflected the attention to detail and the very human manner with which Carter chose to accomplish his goals. After thirteen days of negotiations at Camp David between Carter, Israeli president Menachem Begin and Egyptian president Anwar Sadat, Begin informed them both that he could make no further concessions and had called for his plane to come the following morning to take him back to Israel. The next morning Carter walked over to Begin's cabin holding a stack of 8 identical pictures taken of the three leaders on the first day of negotiations. Carter knew that Begin was completely devoted to each of his eight grandchildren. The photos were addressed to each one individually and had one word,"Peace" and Carter's signature. He handed them one at a time to Begin perfectly pronouncing each child's Hebrew name. Begin, with tears in his eyes, turned to a staff member and said, let them know I will not be needing that plane today, we need to get this done. Not long after the Camp David Accords were signed and Egypt became the first Arab state to recognize Israel's right to exist. Can you imagine the upcoming US political leader doing something like that? Unfortunately no.
