Rain

Mrs. Salmo and I were staying in a cabin near Stehekin this past week. Wednesday during dinner a gust of high wind rolled through with some rain, bringing some thunder and lightning - and a power and water outage at our cabin. Unplanned adventure, you might say. Glad I wasn't hiking on a mountain top.
 
Dead calm here, but some very slow rotation of clouds up high
Muggy, hot...
 
its oddly calm, and zero birds, deer or even insects...
not a sound, which out here is unusual.
 
Heard a "Boom" to my east. Cloudy and raining. Neighbors got up early and was hauling a bunch of stuff. I asked if they were moving and the guy said, "no, we are going camping" Uh, Ok....

Smart neighbors, wait til the high heat is gone, camping on weekdays.....perfect.

Natural AC? 80°F at 0522 when I got up; I could smell smoke. Closed the crawl space vents (where our furnace is). The AQI is 491 and the forecast is 98°F. Oh for rain. Thank goodness for AC, at least the house is nice and cool inside. No fishing today. Yes, I'm whining.

It was 80° inside my house last night at 10:00. I obviously don’t have AC. 😂😂😂

Currently 64° at my place with a nice marine layer.
Mid 70’s today after things burn off. Still a bit warm for my liking but way better than yesterday’s 90’s. 🤮

Sprinkled last night, barely wet the ground.

My pond has been going through the water like there's a leak.....but there is no leak.
 
The last couple days really were tough...
Glad it cooled off
 
What is this "rain" of which you speak? We just have fire & smoke on the east side.

Yeah no rain over here in God's Country, but no real smoke either.
 
Sprinkled on the lake last night
As it was hot there were a lot of swimmers
A few came booking back to their dock that I was fishing
I thought they were going to tear into me as they were new owners and those people don’t understand that they bought property on a public lake.
But they were just worried about lightning
I assured them that I had 4 graphite rods and that they are safe:)
