NFR Queens are out and about

Non-fishing related
Well day before yesterday I got the unpleasure of meeting 5-7 bald face hornets while weedeating or hill walking trail... i can run fast with weedeater strap around my neck and having to leap over downed trees I was going to clear next.

But today with my bee suit on I cleared the test of the trail... and got my revenge on the hornets! They are no more!

Do you see it?

It's done for now!

Nice. what did you do, go back in a bee suit and inject the nest with some powder?

Been seeing a few yellow jackets while sitting out on the deck so I’m taking another run at the Filpronil Cocktail.

The last attempt had limited success using canned tuna, so I dug out a 5 year old piece of salmon from the freezer and cubed it up. Put a half cup or so in a tuna can and dosed with 7 drops of Filpronil.

I built a cage and screwed it to a high stump, we’ll see how this formula works!

I like that you have a cage around the bait so no other critters can consume it. Thanks!

have you tried something like vinegar and bacon grease in your cocktail that will attract wasps and hornets but will repel or at least not attract honeybees?

I haven't tried that. I was using @Evan B 's recipe. Do you think honey bees and bumblebees are attracted to the raw fish? I thought only predators from the wasp / hornet family would go after meat.

I'm anxious to watch it and see what kind of activity I get. So far nothing, not even yellow jackets can be seen visiting.

The raw fish just attracts yellowjackets and flies. Actually deployed some a few days ago. They really like my boat after tuna trips.

Most wasps are quite good pollinators and not predatory like spawn of Satan....aka yellowjackets. Bald faced hornets are great at killing and eating yellowjackets but they're dicks too!

I once was watching a bald faced hornet nest that was high up in a tree through binoculars some 100' away when I literally watched one fly straight towards me and sting my hand that was holding the binocs, so fuck them too.

I know the pain. I got stung/bit by a baldfaced a$$hole, too!
