That’s just wrongHeading in about an hour ago, I noticed a chinook tail laying on the beach. Probably 10-15 pound fish
Chinook ain’t open in that area.
Fucking assholes. When we got in we asked some dudes that had been out there if they caught a king and they said “no, I don’t think so”
Among all the other worse aspects of that - who the hell cuts the tail off a salmon they retain?Heading in about an hour ago, I noticed a chinook tail laying on the beach. Probably 10-15 pound fish

I think they probably fileted it out there. Maybe a weird fileting techniqueAmong all the other worse aspects of that - who the hell cuts the tail off a salmon they retain?
Someone who is trying to hide the fact that they retained a closed species for the area/time.Among all the other worse aspects of that - who the hell cuts the tail off a salmon they retain?
I could see that, if they also cut off the head to hide the black gums.Someone who is trying to hide the fact that they retained a closed species for the area/time.
Yeah, doesn't make sense. Maybe they weren't aware of all the identifiersI could see that, if they also cut off the head to hide the black gums.
It's not a perfect theory. But I could see some mental contortions happening after someone did something naughty, intentionally or accidentally and then sorta panicked and decided to do...something...to try to obscure the evidence, but actually just making it all the more suspicious...Yeah, doesn't make sense. Pictures? Just sayingCaught a PR sculpin today while practicing with my 7wt spey rod in area 10. Poor little guy didn't stand a chance.
The tail likely washed in from MA11

Puget Sound Fishing Facebook Groups are hilarious, in addition to being called slurs I routinely see people asking strangers on the internet to tell them the current regulations. Of course, half the answers are wrong. Someone is trying to convince people Kings are open in Area 10 because of the Sinclair Inlet exemption. Someone else told me I was wrong when I told him that Area 8-2 is not in fact opening for Kings and coho on August 26th.View attachment 124196
All kidding aside, it’s amazing how often you hear “can we keep kings” or “can we keep wild fish” when someone lands one off the beach and it’s closed. Might want to take a quick peek at the regs before you start fishing. If nobody or few folks are around as I suspect was the case here, more likely than not it goes home with them.
