Puget Sound

3-10 for me today fishing next to @Kfish who had the hot hand landing a lot more fish than me and hooking nearly as many in about 3 hours less fishing :). All fish landed were coho (two clipped, one not). Bit of a frustrating day. Could not keep anything pinned. The last couple of days non stinger flies worked fine. Today, too many lost fish and short strikes. A single rezzie was kept. Not much for the hours put in. Back at it tomorrow ….using flies with stingers.

What time are you going out tomorrow?
I also sent you a pm.

2 for 2 today on broken rod sections fishing a couple of MA13 and MA11 beaches. 0 for 0 catching fish. The skunking is not unexpected but breaking my Echo ION XL (which has been bombproof) twice kinda sucked.

I snapped the tip section just above the first guide on the second cast of the day. I was able to retrieve the tip. My 10' rod was now 8'. Screw it, we're not going home. I was able to fish it, but it was stiff as hell and took some hard double-hauling to move the line and fly. I kept fishing, though. On the last beach, just before we were going to pack it in, I launched the second section onto the rocks and slightly cracked the female part of the ferrule. I caved and packed it up. I think all of the rigorous casting without the tip section absorbing the shock allowed to work loose. A good haul sent it flying as it separated. Time to contact Echo for some service.

The fish gods were definitely not smiling upon me today. They were also pissed at everyone else, too, since nobody seemed to be catching anything down south today.

time to regroup...

Bummer.
Lots of broken rods this summer in this group. I’m a member. 😂
Echo will take good care of you.

+1....... 2023 maybe a good year for Puget Sound rod sales and repairs.

My Redington Pursuit 6 weight remains in play and entirely reliable, easily one of the best $130 I've spent. If it did go probably pitch in for a Vice. Mainly because I like the green, the Vice 5wt is great, and budget side of Redington stuff seems to work just fine for me. (I am not a Redington rep but am open to it :p )

Boot,
If you'd like a Redington Vice, 9'6" 6 wt that has been fished twice and offers the same fine color green patina as my fishing rig for $100.00, let me know. :ROFLMAO:
Disclaimer, the handle squeaks on occasion when casting it, but otherwise it is fine. ;) Might just be my poor casting as well. Tube and sock included.
If Boot passes on this, I'll make it available to any other members who need a 6 wt for the best month of coho fishing. Pick up available in North Seattle.

Fished twice and the cork is funky? Hmm, was it @Nick Clayton who fished it previously? That would be great if so; I'm sure Boot will pick it up at twice that price in order to be able to CSI the shit out of that cork and hopefully solve the Collosal Clayton Cork Conundrum once and for all. Or, at the very least, it will be another node on Boot's whole-wall-sized horrendogram with thumb tacks, yarn and pieces of "evidence" mounted up there.

No, the cork is pristine. Had @Nick Clayton used it the two times it was fished, the cork would been damaged and dented.
I'd then have Nick autograph it and I'd be asking @Wadin' Boot for $400.00 or more..... Authenticated good fishing karma and mojo comes with a hefty price regardless of the rod brand. :ROFLMAO:

I'm a few months into fly fishing, no experience in fishing in general, and have been able to get in on the humpy crazy thanks to a Pacific Fly Fishers outfit I picked up last week. I can't cast very far but still have been able to land some when I hit the tides right. From a beach much further north than most are fishing it seems.
1/1 this morning before work. This is the first one I've landed that had began growing it's hump. I ended up giving this one to someone next me.

Nice work, and good on you for sharing your bounty.

I like that you preserved the fish in sand... if you ask @Stonedfish (and he knows!), that's the only proper way to handle pinks!

Nice work man! I know a lot of fishy people who cant get it done on the beach, so good for you!!

If you leave that sandy pink in the sun another hour or two, itll form a perfect crust with the slime. At that point its preserved and ready to mount in your home as a testament to your slime rocket prowess!

You gotta be careful with the panko crust, sometimes when the kick is still in the fish, the gravel is flipped up into your face. Can scratch a man's cornea if not careful. You don't want eye damage to make it hard to see the wall mount...

:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: thanks guys. I'll make sure to wash it nice and clean next time but we'll see. My girlfriend might enjoy the gritty preserves of this new brine.

Real purists sift their sand onto the fish to avoid such catastrophe. However I believe an eye patch is the perfect accessory to be seen in chasing pinks. Real piratey vibe

Nice work.
A beach humpy handoff is always an appreciated gift. Male humpy backstrap with a thick sand panko crust deep fried by the sun on the beach is a true PNW odd year delicacy. ;)
