I second this, boat it up! Cruise around looking for fish if you can. They frequently run shallow and show themselves often when present in numbers. And @Kashf, I have hooked many pink salmon using a floating fly line, a long leader, but stout enough to turn over a small, heavy fly. The goal being maximum up and down jiggy action. When there are a bunch of fish around this is usually my main approach. No brainer. Boat.
Would an appropriately sized terrestrial attractor pattern work for this hatch? I recall you mentioning the termites in past seasons, sounds like a fun session casting dries.
What kind of canoe do you have? Let me know if you want to team up on spanking some pinks or something, at least for your first time if you’re understandably cautious about Puget Sound. I know I am.Good to know. I appreciate the info. My canoe probably weighs about the same. Definitely would suck carrying it back to the car.
That, and maybe an October Caddis dry fly would be a good bet. There are probably better and more realistic termite patterns, but I’ve caught a number searun cutts over the years fishing an orange bodied stimulator skating or twitching it across the surface.

Maybe something like this would work? That would work as well.
Here is a size reference of a couple naturals I found in my yard a few years ago.
Big wings, little bodies.

I have a green Coleman Outfitter 15. It would be fun to team up at some point. What kind of canoe do you have? Let me know if you want to team up on spanking some pinks or something, at least for your first time if you’re understandably cautious about Puget Sound. I know I am.![]()
Add a bit of distinctive orange/brown to the body, and it would be money!Maybe something like this would work?

What is your wing material Zak? Looks great to me.
Thanks! It's a product called zing wing, mottled with a marker. I'm not sure it is still made, but this looks very similar:What is your wing material Zak? Looks great to me.
