Puget Sound

No brainer. Boat.
I second this, boat it up! Cruise around looking for fish if you can. They frequently run shallow and show themselves often when present in numbers. And @Kashf, I have hooked many pink salmon using a floating fly line, a long leader, but stout enough to turn over a small, heavy fly. The goal being maximum up and down jiggy action. When there are a bunch of fish around this is usually my main approach.

I can tell fall isn’t far off as we approach mid Fogust. I can smell the saltwater and hear seals barking from my front yard. We should get the first flight of termites within the next week or so. Cooler nights and shorter days.
The best season is coming and the worst season will be ending…….😉

Would an appropriately sized terrestrial attractor pattern work for this hatch? I recall you mentioning the termites in past seasons, sounds like a fun session casting dries.

There are probably better and more realistic termite patterns, but I’ve caught a number searun cutts over the years fishing an orange bodied stimulator skating or twitching it across the surface.

Good to know. I appreciate the info. My canoe probably weighs about the same. Definitely would suck carrying it back to the car.
What kind of canoe do you have? Let me know if you want to team up on spanking some pinks or something, at least for your first time if you’re understandably cautious about Puget Sound. I know I am. 🍻

With the upper 80's and low 90s next week they will be flying I'd guess. Only had one very light hatch out here this year, certainly due for one.

I have a green Coleman Outfitter 15. It would be fun to team up at some point.

Fished the beach again this morning. 5 for 6 with the resident coho. One pink salmon. One 7" Dungeness crab that unwisely choose to hump my left boot.

I didn't hook any migratory coho. The current that pushes them into the beach was much weaker this morning than I had hoped.

Chiming in w/ a deep-n-dirty gear-fishing post from just before MA10 got shut down. Got 2 nice kings down around 100, but also connected with 1 smaller king, several pinks, a humpy, 2 slivers and one coho on my light gear set-up (beach rod+diver+flasher+spoon) that couldn't have been down more than 25-30ft. Hope to be getting out on the kayak for some flyfishing action in the next few days.

luv the kings. got a few from the weekend bay opener from 10-20 lbs. heading to Nehalem Bay for the weekend - Jaws!

What is your wing material Zak? Looks great to me.
Thanks! It's a product called zing wing, mottled with a marker. I'm not sure it is still made, but this looks very similar:
