I think my favorite part of watching this team is that they get out of the huddle and up to the line with more than 3 seconds on the play clock. That used to drive me NUTS the last however many years. So many wasted timeouts and delay of game penalties, and at this point I can only put that on RW. Geno gets them in and out of the huddle and is at the line with so much time left that even when he makes changes at the line he's generally not super rushed. I remember times the Hawks burned a timeout because they were out of time and then came back and STILL got a friggen delay of game penalty.
Also Geno does a great job of going through his reads and simply taking what is available. Not always looking for the huge play. That's the sort of thing that leads to long drives.
I'd love to see them sign Geno for the next 3 years, maybe in that 25-30 mil a year range, which is cheap for a good QB, then find someone in the draft they are in love with and can groom for a while. I have to think though that teams will be willing to over spend for Geno. I do wonder how excited he would be to go back to a shitty team, and if he would feel at all loyal to Pete for giving him this chance when few others would. I dunno, that sounds good and all, but when staring down at a 125 million or more contract offer I certainly wouldn't blame him for wanting to cash in.
Seems every handful of years we see this where a long unsuccessful QB falls in with the right system/coach/situation and succeeds. Then some shit house organization throws a ton of money at them and they never replicate that success. Sure makes it obvious how important coaching and the right system can be for many QBs.
