What is it?

The Pro Controll EZ Mount is a bracket that clamps onto the gunwale of your small jon or utility boat and allows you to use a basic transom mount trolling motor as a bow mount trolling motor. At $85, will it let you be a Bassmaster without breaking the bank?

I picked up this gadget last summer and was pretty impressed with how easily it gave me a budget bow mount trolling motor. So I figured I'd write up a review since I know many of us have an old transom mount motor kicking around. Check it out and let me know what you think.

Great write up, Josh. I do something similar with a trolling motor up front in my drift boat. I like having it up front, for all the reasons you said. My biggest beef is that I have to mount it on the gunwhale rails, and that it tries to twist itself off at higher revs. I’ll have to give this contraption a try.

Ideally, I’d like to throw a little outboard on it too, but it’s a double ender, so no transom. I wonder if I could hang an outboard on this thing.

Thanks for this write up—nice job on it—and I like how you’ve got it paired with that little battery. If I got one of these and put a trolling motor up there it would make my big dumb deep cycle battery seem even bigger and dumber.

I really think, at least with the Pro Controll Version, you could pretty easily make a bar that locked the motor into place.
