Most useless/stupid fishing gear you have bought?

Dr. Slick saltwater pliers purchased back in 2016-2017. One week of wading the flats and they were toast with corrosion and mineral deposits. I cleaned, oiled, and replaced the cutters. The next trip they rusted out just as fast. Into the trash can. Bought a pair of cheap Gamakatsu saltwater pliers and they are awesome after many expeditions.

What's the most useless piece of fishing gear you've ended up buying. Something you thought would be awesome and ended up just sitting in a drawer. I know that gear fishing has so much more of this than fly fishing, so if you want to post about your Popeil Pocket Fisherman, go right ahead.
Hardy Marquis salmon number two....

All my other hardest are great but this reel is junk, never use it.

Stupidest - that first fly rod, 'cause look where I ended up.

Love my korkers, though!

Collapsible mesh stripping basket
True, although I will say, I was really glad I had mine on your boat to keep line away from things it shouldn't have been near.

That said, I modified mine so that there are multiple pieces of zip ties sticking up to keep line from tangling....works great 93.7% of the time.

For me though, it's probably the first (and only) fly vest I bought....well vests in general. They just suck so bad at carrying any appreciable amount of water.

Mine doesn't do that. I'm shocked to find one of my favourite items on the list. This one gadget and Ziploc bags has been the biggest leap for me in line storage and organization.
Mine doesn't either, and yes definitely one of my favorites. I've got two. One lives in the boat bag, and one stays at home with the Rio Head Cases.

You're not wading deep enough.
I'm not wading with this one. Ever. Used on boats only.....whoops, was thinking you were responding to the mesh basket thing....it's too late and early where I'm at.... 😆
