The last several falls I have spent numerous days cracking some of the large mixed bag lakes we have in the area with good results.
It's a fun big water fishery utilizing sonar to find off shore structure and baitfish. I was blessed to have @troutpocket join me on such a day.
We met at 0800 am but due to a stiff cold north breeze decided to start on a more sheltered back bay a short drive away.
On about my third cast I got slammed almost as soon as my fly hit the water. The fish went airborn and I realized I was into a nice rainbow. It's always fun to get one when your buddy is still setting up

Rod got on the water and it didn't take him very long to find a nice smallie:

A lot of the fun of the mixed bag lakes is you never know what you are going to get. The fish are generally deep and it takes awhile to get them to the surface.
Now Rod was just showing off with a nice walleye to hand:

I spent some time picking apart a beaver hut but could only get a few smaller largemouth:

We both caught several more bass before deciding to take a break and zip back to the first spot:

Find the baitfish and generally you would find bites:

It was a gorgeous but chilly fall day:

Rod fighting another one:

Rod left a little before me. As the sun got lower the bite picked up. Huge flock of snow geese in the back ground:

This time of year goes by fast and it always bums me out knowing winter is fast approaching:

It was a fun but challenging day. I think my smile says it all:

If you are curious about the tube I will have a big write up on it shortly
Get out there well you can!
