Let's talk life's simple pleasures

It’s funny, I get up early and move around the kitchen like a Ninja/Native Tracker. Quiet as a mouse. I make the tiniest teaspoon tinkle and my kids are up and asking me for 437 things. Then, later on when I ask them to get dressed or go to bed, their incredible owl like hearing has somehow disappeared!
I look like a disheveled hobo most of the time cause I also have to do the creep. Usually find random clothes laying around cause I can't open the dresser due to the slight creak it makes. Shaving? Bathroom noises out of the question. I have a technique to close the door by using back pressure with my thumb while pulling the doorknob closed so it smoothly latches without a click. I keep toothbrush and stuff at the office

That door regimen sounds familiar. We have 104 year old doors with potentially noisy old glass doorknobs

I am up at about 5 daily. Make coffee have a cup… walk the garden every morning making mental notes of what needs to be done. Walk 5 blocks to the store for a newspaper. Make more coffee to take to my sweetheart… and read the paper perhaps doing the NYTimes crossword. Every day is like how I remember early Sunday mornings before the kids woke up and things got noisy .
My daughters are 37 and 41. One getting married in CO in a couple weeks, the other with my grandsons- what goes around comes around… ;) and they like me now

I think you’ll be glad to know that your kids are above average. And that knowledge alone is one of life’s simple pleasures.

WaIting for a tow of the Prius 6 blocks from home. The little battery decided to die . Roadside assistance in downtown Vancouver at a Chevron… maybe a jump? My truck is being towed in an hour so doing a double. Just filled Jeannes Prius at 5.97 gallon… premium… thats a record on top of a double tow day. No sense in getting pissed about it though I could go there.

my yard is only about 1/2 acre but with summer temperatures often over 100 here, it was drudgery to mow until wife bought me a riding mower for Father’s Day about 20 years ago. After the POS Craftsman mower gave it up I got a Deere and she took over the mowing duties. She says it’s her zen. I do the pruning, take care of the pool, appliances, hvac so it’s pretty even trade. I’d never get her a skid steer unit, she’s afraid of them.
Can you believe the cost of gas? I was so happy to find a station where I was able to fill my tank for only 28 dollars. That was my riding mower , but I’m just trying to stay positive. 😩

Where is Beckie’s? I’m in Rogue River a couple times a year.
On the upper Rogue (ie, above Lost Creek Lake) at Union Creek - if heading east, about a mile before the cutoff to Crater Lake.

Enjoy - best pies ever.

cheers
