NFR Let's talk about generators

Non-fishing related
Update: power is out for the first time this winter. Generator is stored safely in the box it came in.

I was planning to get an electrician out next week to get all the hookups wired in 😂 such is life.
I can relate. When we built out here I thought I should get a generator, thinking power outages would be more likely. The local store was out of stock for the size I wanted, so I ordered online. The storm came, the power went out for over a week. When power was restored, I learned via tracking that our generator was in the freight warehouse in Troutdale waiting for icy roads to clear. The generator arrived the next day after we got power back on. Then we had no power outage for 11 straight years with the ever faithful Honda sitting in the garage. Then I got it out, plugged it in, and turned it on, and used it for one day in the 14 years we have lived here now. But by golly, I am ready!

If the sales guys aren't mentioning HORSEPOWER then you're at a dud!! At a DUD!!! Need to ensure it's not a DUD DEALERSHIP where the guys FAIL to focus on horsepower.

@Evan B
Totally get your sentiments. We're looking at this GenMax, https://www.genmaxpower.com/item/gm...tri-fuel-inverter-generator-with-remote-start

Our biggest hurdle right now is finding an electrician who specializes in generator installs. Don't seem to be a lot of them around. Which is a shame because the army, navy, and air farce all have power generation schools that train 1000's every year to set up systems like we're all talking about.

For those who have noise concerns, youtube has lots of DIY enclosure ideas.

This guy can help with a few ideas, too

The best part of a transfer switch, auto start generator is you don't have to be home when the power goes out to keep the power on...
