I can relate. When we built out here I thought I should get a generator, thinking power outages would be more likely. The local store was out of stock for the size I wanted, so I ordered online. The storm came, the power went out for over a week. When power was restored, I learned via tracking that our generator was in the freight warehouse in Troutdale waiting for icy roads to clear. The generator arrived the next day after we got power back on. Then we had no power outage for 11 straight years with the ever faithful Honda sitting in the garage. Then I got it out, plugged it in, and turned it on, and used it for one day in the 14 years we have lived here now. But by golly, I am ready!Update: power is out for the first time this winter. Generator is stored safely in the box it came in.
I was planning to get an electrician out next week to get all the hookups wired insuch is life.
After shopping around a bit for electricians to add my transfer switch, I'm starting to contemplate that very questionWhat a dilemma, “is better to have and not need or need and not have?”
