IP 28 Oregon

I'm old, got two fast cars, but this is the way to go, knowing the historic running routes around these parts.
That scene didn't end well. Captain Hilts was returned to solitary confinement with his baseball glove, sorta like this modern delivery fail...

this thread underlines the great american tragedy that while we "pay attention" to a tiny knot of lunatics who wield zero power in service of an unadulterated cult fantasy - real power is employed day and night to dismantle the real things in the real world that would otherwise perpetuate the promise of our society for our kids and grandkids. this is not attention, it's a cat chasing a laser pointer. the matrix has you, neo.

At least 15 percent of signatures were rejected from each of the four initiative petitions that have qualified for the ballot since 2022, state records show.

This one probably won't be any different

I saw someone collecting signatures at a farmers market a couple of years ago (one of the failed times). They are being vague or outright dishonest in getting signatures. "Would you like to help stop cruelty to animals?" Enough people didn't think much past that and they'd accept your signature without explaining further. I am sure there are plenty of people who signed it without thinking that it banned EVERYTHING related to animals.

If you end up talking to non-outdoorspeople about this, please make sure to let them know it's not just about banning hunting and fishing for "sport". Literally any thing "farm to table" in Oregon? Illegal. Native Americans exercising their tribal sovereignty and treaty rights? Illegal. A farm with free range chickens? Illegal. No more Tillamook cheese or ice cream. Poor folks trying to feed themselves? Illegal. A taco truck that uses local beef, pork, or chicken? Illegal. We're talking billions of dollars in the state economy would be made illegal. Tens of thousands of jobs would be in jeopardy. There's something here for everyone to hate.

It most likely won't pass, but you can't get complacent. It is in the petitioners interest to have people voting on it without knowing the full effects or ramifications, so we should do our best to educate non-sportspeople, not just get anglers and hunters fired up. M114 was closer to failing than most people realize, and I have personally spoken to people who would have voted "no", had they known everything that was in that measure. A lot of people vote on just vibes, and petitioners are more than happy to accept those votes.

Otta go over like the prohibition on booze. I'll make a FORTUNE smuggling burgers across the border. Don't discount the seemingly silly and stupid.
Now we're talking!

We are moving down the path to self extinction. It's a race between stupidity and plastics consumption, (which in itself is a form of stupidity). Looking ahead, Soylent Green will taste like black garbage bags and will be all the rage!

I have already SINGLE HANDELY eliminated all threat of various Legal Actions with the incredubly-written and highly RECOMMENDED "My Main Amendment". With this, we have now utterlly SQUASHED the legal competition!!!!!! NEGATED legal threats. Made severe THREATS to the firms denying involvement. Heavy Involvement!!!! Of which i was heavily involed.

Its an Outrage they're even approaching the topic witb My Main Amendment now being Actively and FOREFULLY promoted!!

I agree that I would likely benefit by eating a little lower on the food chain than I do, but this notion is crazy. Let's say we all convert to veganism. Then science advances and determines that many fruits and vegetables are actually sentient beings. What then? We all dedicate ourselves to mass starvation out of kindness to plants? At some point there is a reckoning with biology: life's a bitch, and then you die. To live, you're gonna' kill things, and eventually, something's gonna' kill you. Nature is beautiful, but it doesn't give a sh!t about kindness.
These folks are anti human. They herald the post human future like a religion seeking the end times. The propaganda worked too well on these ones.

Yup. Oregon is <4% vegan. And believe it or not, even all vegans are not insane.
You can tell someone is vegan because they tell you in 5 minutes. And they are all insane. Weak with little resilience and muscle tone but insane none the less.

People willingly vote for that stuff. Bring back Jim Crow for all. If you're dumb, no vote. Tax negative? No vote. Nobody did steer the ship unless they row. Full stop.

This has 0% chance of passing - and no, I'm not being naive. People were misled at the petition end of things. There's a LOT of chatter about this and I've not heard a single whisper of support from left right or center. It's not even a partisan thing. This is a few fringe extremists misleading enough people to get a ballot measure up for vote. Not only will it likely not even show up on the ballot, but the truth about it has already made its rounds even before the major campaigns against it ramp up (if they're needed at all).

This same exact thing has been attempted multiple times. This time it's just getting more coverage.

I want it to pass. I'm already preparing underground meat smuggling routes accessible to only the most rugged off-road capable vehicles.

And when it does finally pass, the next big thing will be recognizing that plants scream when they're harvest, cut, consumed.

let them vote. takes 114K signatures to reach the ballot, i think. then what? even if only portland residents voted, it wouldn't amount to a fart. this proposal warrants laughter, not hand-wringing. we can't move toward common sense if we let ourselves get manipulated into a froth over pure nonsense - as if your aim was to eradicate thinking you reject - which is perfectly analogous to the aims of these crazies.

your list are all false equivalencies to this proposal, you know that. in our uneducated society, voting rights and tax policy might as well be rocket science to the man on the street. eating meat and playing outside? no. this can't happen, just laugh at it. that's the energy it warrants.

I guarantee that if it were voted on, Portland would vote overwhelmingly against it. I know it's popular to clown on Portland, but I think people very much underestimate the number of fishermen, hunters, and lovers of food that would fall under this proposed "law." It's already being laughed at by most.

Not sure which is funnier here, the initiative itself, or those wailing and the gnashing of teeth about it passing.

I'm still pro voter suppression though on all issues. You should be contributing to vote or have contributed. If you have never paid taxes why should you have a say in how they are spent? It's easy to spend other people's money. I find folks are lots more selective with their own

And to be clear. I'm voting for this one. The entertainment value alone is worth it
