I know I was a sub teacher at Washougal High School when I retired 3 years ago -at 66. It was a common trend.

A looong while back (late 70s likely) when “distressed jeans” first came out, I recall telling (extended) family that I saw Calvin Klein was selling holy jeans for a hundred bucks. I was guffawed as ridiculous.

In the 60’s holey jeans were a natural progression of wearing them all the time. They got more comfy. Holes happened to our 501’s or Oshkosh denim overalls. I knew no one that threw rocks in the washer or used 90 grit sandpaper or bleach intentionally. We were idiots
