I used rubber bands to shake excess DIY Bergman's floatant wax particles off my dry flies. Best floatant I ever used but I couldn't find a jar or bottle that sealed tightly enough to keep the naphtha from evaporating after 2 weeks, so I switched to Dilly Wax as recommended by Doug Swisher, no dryer required. I was always thinking Abel would come up with a fly dryer for shaking off desiccant powder for $50 so that Fly Banjo is a bargain!I actually carry a rubber band for cdc dry fliesβ¦I think I saw Lance Egan use one onceβ¦but mine are blue since Iβm so stylishβ¦and they are free with my asparagusβ¦
An Abel partnership with Dyson perhaps...I was always thinking Abel would come up with a fly dryer for shaking off desiccant powder for $50 so that Fly Banjo is a bargain!

So what is wrong with false casting?
Well...I admit, I'm interested now.The thread title threw me. On one of my moving trips a gentleman at the rest area was standing there holding his fly open while the dryer blew down his pants. Couldn't figure out why this would be a topic of interest.
My Amadou patch got soaking wet and became compressed and hard when it dried. Any tips on restoring it?I've had the same Amadou patch for 40 years now. It and a bottle of Gink is all you need.

I wash mine in a mild solution of hot water and lemon dish soap, rinse well and dry in the sun. After that treat the leather binding with leather conditioner. My Amadou patch got soaking wet and became compressed and hard when it dried. Any tips on restoring it?
