I actually carry a rubber band for cdc dry flies…I think I saw Lance Egan use one once…but mine are blue since I’m so stylish…and they are free with my asparagus…

Perfect! A guaranteed way for slinging your fly into your face or getting it stuck in your vest.

So what is wrong with false casting?

Many many years ago one of my coworkers (who happened to be the laboratory safety officer) enjoyed shooting flies with long rubber bands....until one broke at the wrong end and tore a big chunk out of his cornea.

He endured at least a month of pirate jokes until it healed and he could jettison the eye patch.

This handy device also works in lieu of a tensioning O-ring on yer Renzetti Traveler vise. What a deal!
