Cross Country Road trip

Does anyone have a guide recommendation to fish the Beaverkill or any other river 2 hrs from NYC?
This isn’t a very good time of the year for trout fishing here (I live in SE PA), and I’d expect that the water temperatures on the Beaverkill would be close to being too warm to fish during the middle of the day now. There might be some fishing there in the early morning or later in the evening (you could check with a fly shop in Roscoe), but I, personally, wouldn’t waste money on a guide.

You‘d probably find somewhat cooler water temps, and perhaps a bit better fishing, over on the West Branch of the Delaware (above Hancock, NY) which would be another 30 minutes (more or less) from the Beaverkill and Roscoe, NY, probably 2 1/2 hours from NYC.

I don’t have any recommendations on guides, as I don’t use them, but there are many in the area.

This time of year? I’d look to saltwater instead.

How about throwing a small leech or stimulator in a pond on Central Park for panfish…just for grins & giggles?…

Drove through PA, NJ and now in midtown Manhattan D9DE17AD-E5C5-454A-AA21-8C03062C7609.jpeg through PA, NJ and now staying in Midtown Manhattan at our daughter’s place…

Actually, it might be reasonably good.

Just be sure to post some pictures.

I’ve booked a striper-bluefish charter off Montauk for the 26th…

And stringing up my 4wt to fish Central Park either tomorrow or the day after…or if it’s surprisingly good, both days

I’d like to hear how this goes since I have to be in nyc for work in a couple weeks.

Nice reports! I was in Central Park 2 weeks ago- the turtle population was impressive. Nicely done, fishing the ponds there, I shoulda thought about it but I was on grandkid duty. If you are walking around, Urban Anglers is a fun flyshop. I will be fishing saltwater out there in November I think.
