I know that spot well. My Dad and I talked to whoever was living there sometime in the early 80's and they let us fish... back when that kind of thing was normal. I remember walking past the "Andrews" wooden sign, down a trail to the side of the property.

Nice run, mostly shallow so typically better winter run water, but did catch a few summers there.

Small world.

No one ever lived there. It was always meant to be a vacaton cabin. Someone of the extended family would visit there for a couple weeks at a time because there was alwYs works to do on the cabin. They fished ghere ans allowed accessfor fishermen
Well, whoever we talked to was friendly, and the access was appreciated.

This is a seed head on a northwest native “weed,” Geum macrophyllum, aka Large-leaf aven. (I never heard of it either, until I keyed it out.). Think of a 15-inch tall buttercup. This seed head is about the size of a pea.

Not sure why I enjoy chasing insects around with my phone :). My favorite plant in our yard - Penstemon venustus - has started to bloom. Not many insects on it, but got some pics. The little black guy - is it a bee??? - is by far the most common. Google image search says blue orchard bee.
