Cant fix stupid!

Hate to speak ill of the dead, not much information, but clearly not prepared. Darwin nominees?

and what were they planning on doing if they found one?

Thankfully, all of the 60 plus rescuers who took time away from family over the holiday, are OK.

It's a tough one. I want to laugh at the insanity of adults thinking Bigfoot is real. Losing their lives in fantasyland, it has to be drug related.

I did something very stupid as a teenager…decided to put on the snow shoes and go out in a driving snow blizzard in MA…spent over an hour lost on a lake…weed may have been involved…

Teenagers are inherently stupid....that's why the combat arms military services loves enlisting the dopes. Plus mortality results in fewer consequences (beyond devastated parents)...few are married and have children, and Suzy RC back home will soon find a new prospective mate (if she hasn't already found one!).

That stupidity (and a draft lottery number of 4) is how they got me.

I choose to look at it this way: at least they died doing what they loved. But causing 60 SAR personnel to spend their holiday searching for them it pretty low class.
This is one of the main reasons I've carried a satellite communication device while out in the sticks for years...at the very least it will save a lot of folks a great deal of time, effort and potential danger searching for my raggedy ol' carcass.

As a former Mt Rescue volunteer for a number of years my heart really goes out to the family 😢. A mega-Bravo Zulu to all of the SAR teams. And yes,Thankfully all who participated completed the mission safely.

The news release is very light on detail and I would like to know more of the backstory. Father-Son??? Did they tell anyone where they were going? Were they experienced outdoorsmen? Spur of the moment trip? How ill-prepared? Were they together when found? How far were they found from their vehicle? Were there any traumatic injuries?...

There was mention in one of the stories (below) they had to use a 'flock safety camera' which captured their license plate. Guessing they used that to find their vehicle and pinpoint a location, which likely means they didn't tell anyone where they were going. Story said they appeared to have died from 'exposure to the elements' as the likely cause of death, which probably means no apparent traumatic injuries.

Just read that some degenerates robbed the Skamania SAR team’s equipment yard of tens of thousands of dollars of critical SAR equipment while the team was out on this call.
