Awesome Dogs of PNW

Thanks, all, for the condolences. We miss Omar but as usual those pangs of loss are becoming less acute.
Of course we have chatted about a possible next 2nd dog. We asked AI what breed goes well with a Boston Terrier. It suggested a Boston Terrier. They are good little dogs but I am pretty set on moving away from another brachycephalic (smush-faced) dog. They just have a lot of issues with that and the breed in general. Came across the idea of a Border Terrier and thinking on that a bit. I’m all for a mutt but I’d like a dog under 20 lbs and with a short coat and not insane high energy like a Jack Russel or Rat Terrier.

A last trip to a favorite place with lots of good smells and good tastes today and we said goodbye to Omar at home this afternoon. We are sad. I’m not quite sure what to do with myself at the moment. So long, good boy.

Condolences from our family to yours, Matt. Dogs are family we don't have as long as we should. And their passing always hurts.

When Rosey passed last year we all cried for 3-4 days. Still get tears in our eyes at times, so we kind of know what Omar meant to you and yours.
 
Matt, sorry to hear about your god, they are a gift. Time heals but it’s a process. We still miss Ruby, our 16 year old Bull Terrier after 34 months but with the addition of Gracie last August it’s getting better and being as the alternative is life without I’ll choose dogs every time.
 
RIP Coco.

She was a "hand me down" dog from my wife's coworker and friend 9 years ago. Not sure why she wasn't a good fit from them, but she was a great family dog for us. She was Vizsla, Rhodesian ridgeback, and .... ? mix. Other than barking at strangers - who she would be licking with tail wagging within a minute - she was super-sweet and harmless.

Vet didn't give her a prognosis beyond more pain meds and suffering. Tough to say goodbye but we knew it was coming after she lost that Vizsla energy and wasn't her normal happy-to-see-everyone self.

Sorry for your loss, but glad you spared Coco unnecessary pain.
 
My condolences. A tough decision for the right reason. Coco obviously was "handed down" to the right forever home. Sorry for your loss, but I'm glad you had Coco.
