A new world record... my favorite driving band

Heard Jimi Hendrix at the Spanish Castle on under 21 nights several times. This was before he hit the big time but i knew he was special, even then. Listened to lots of other bands too; Beach Boys, Wailers, and Sonics to name a few. Later married the owners daughter. Jimi Hendrix childhood home is not far from where I live.
Spanish castle... Any relation to said "Spanish castle magic"?

So cool to be deep within a pocket of musical history.

Oh Golly, KZOK and KISW. 🤘 That takes me back a long time ago........
Get some "Seattle's Best Rock" stickers at the Squire Shop with a new pair of Brittania jeans, then listen to Robin and Maynard on the drive home.

Good times.

Question: Why do bagpipers march when they play?
Answer: To try to get away from the sound

How can you tell if a bluegrass stage is level?
The banjo player drools evenly out of both sides of his mouth.

Speaking of banjo

Yes... The Spanish Castle inspired that song...

I collected records and found a mint copy of this album. Gave it to my FIL. The smile was enormous and long lasting...

I saw this shortly after it can out, I love seeing weird covers, and this was great.

Hayseed Dixie did some good ones...

Kzok. Kisw….. and of course ‘The End’ which was first on am radio and introduce bands like Flock of Seagulls, Adam Ant, Level 42, DEVO, Depeche Mode, etc.

Anyone remember Zrock?
It was an AM station but all metal, back in the early 1990s.

A little more about the Spanish Castle. Pretty cool moment in history.

I luv your post. Your record collection? Bigger than mine for sure.

Yes, Spanish Castle has a long history. Actually, quite important.

I was fortunate to listen to Jimi in his high school years.

Also Heart. I lived 4 houses from their Seahurst studio.

My wife's uncle was one of the original members of the Brothers Four.

I got to hear Boz Skaggs when he dropped by a hotel in Bend unexpectedly. Raised his sunglasses on stage, the band got better immediately.

The Pioneee Square visiting musicians is also quite extensive.

The PNW has a huge history regarding music. We are very fortunate!

I only wish that was my room filled with vinyl. I only have a few crates of treasures.

But, i have been a fan of all music since a child and love learning from other freaks like me.

Crazy interesting how adjacent one can be to history...and how much left there is to learn, even when you've made an effort to be as schooled as possible.

Thanks.

Agreed! Thanks, I learned some stuff and I like learning stuff.

My parents went dancing often at the Spanish Castle before I was born, and after, when they could get a sitter to stay with me. My mother made many references to it in her later years.

Long ago I bought the CD soundtrack to The Good The Bad and the Ugly movie and kept in the the car for road trips.

A few times when going to fish the Grand Ronde I would cue up this track once I got about half way down the Hwy 123 Rattlesnake grade. It was perfect for scenery and the building anticipation of getting to the river after a six hour drive as I wound down towards the bottom.
