2026 Swap & Shop Official Thread

Actually - since I'll already have my smoker there for the Saturday lunch bbq, I'll throw the coho in there for the Friday night thing. Smoky baked coho fillets, wings, and some sort of side.

Friday evening - I'm going to do some coho fillets on the charcoal grill to accompany the wings. I can figure out a side, too.
What day were you thinking of having dinner Saturday? I'm hoping I may be able to show up most of day Saturday and head home by 6pm. If I come I'll bring a pan of baked beans

I'm really looking forward to this, and have very little to contribute in the way of cooking. I can bring a two-burner and a cast iron griddle for it. I'm a decent sous chef, hell on dirty dishes, and would be happy to do some shopping as my contribution to the group.

Saturday will be the big breakfast, the swap n BS time, then a mid-day smoked meats feast.

That will be it for officially-scheduled stuff. I'll be heading home late afternoon but many will remain to close the place down and stay the next night.

Ok. I won't be there for breakfast. I have to stop by and check in then had that way. So should I not have a pan of baked bean? Or i can stop and pick things up for people to snack on too.

I'll bring a dutch oven for that. Never done it before, but...

ChatGPT - help me make cornbread in my dutch oven

that should do it 😆

I've cooked cornbread in a Dutch oven with the lid off in my kitchen oven many times. I've never attempted to cook anything in a Dutch oven outdoors although I have seen the pictures.

Need an online demo?
Thanks, but I think what I would need is practice, which isn’t going to happen (by me) in the next couple weeks. I could possibly bake some in advance and bring it, but I’m trying not to sign up for too too much stuff as I got a lot going on between now and then. I’ll call the pre-baked cornbread a maybe.

I just meant I can help a few mistakes that most new DOer's do. Especially with cornbread. I don't mind.

Looks like we still need to figure out Saturday dinner and Sunday breakfast.

We have Evan's big BBQ Saturday lunch. I'm thinking maybe we could throw some extra meat in the smoker for dinner? Like maybe a few kielbasas that I could slice and stir fry with green cabbage on the griddle?

I can do pancakes for Sunday breakfast. What's our checkout time on Sunday?

If I have room I can throw some extra stuff in the smoker. I won't be around for dinner most likely, so that's the most I can offer probably. Have obligations Sunday so will be headed out like last year.

I can bring some kielbasa, cabbage, and mustard. If the kielbasa won't fit in the smoker, it will still griddle up fine.

Maybe we should skip Sunday breakfast, depending on checkout time.

Well now I am glad I let you know. Now I'm 💯 know i can't go for the whole weekend. When time comes I'll know of I'll be able to come Saturday. I had to cancel my stroke BBQ this weekend. So I'm day by day dealing with the situation.
