As I once read in the Wind in the Willows....

This year I decided to do a couple things…
first, I put in a better floor at the bow so I could
maybe take my aging dog along sometime.

Prolly have to do a couple runs on some local still water first to figure out a Dog Over Board drill cuz knowing her, she'll just jump out whenever she feels like it.
Second ( and more fun) I MacGyvered a removable casting brace for the back of the boat.
I wanted something that would:
-provide me with a little stand casting stability at the tiller area,
-still allow me to use the oars,
-be quick and easy to remove,
-and not be a trip hazard when not in place.
I also didn't want to spend a ton of loot.
So I found a $5 flat screen TV stand and a free back rest from a 70's era kitchen chair and went to town.

First I removed the naugahyde & foam and then re-used the curved press board backrest support to come up with the thigh brace

Then I spent a while trying to figure out the quick release floor attachment.
After some lengthy boat and wood working porn deep dives I stumbled upon screw in wood inserts

and then I re worked some $1 ReStore levered knobs

and then cut and re stapled the foam cushion and naugahyde to make this beauty

and all for about $20
…of course I’ll let y’all know if the lack of engineering or safety standards ends up being a factor and I end up in the drink
