This fairly hideous 4" fly got me a surprise walleye on a basin lake on Fri. Was fishing a type 7 deep near structure for smallmouth.
The eyes are small jingle bells, so they act like rattles

Was pretty happy with myself...then my big sis in MN sent a pic of the 30" monster she caught today! (on a hand-tyed spinner rig)

The hare's ear crippler was a dynamite top dropper fly today, got lots of action.

The march brown softhackle was good too.

Figured out why the darker hare's ear has been working so well

Fished my Cortland Brook, great small stream rod.

Thanks, I have a thing for using odd materials - it's fun when they work out!
They came from a craft store in the beading section, not sure which one. Easy to find online, also.

And while I appreciate the sentiment...I most certainly am not the man! 🙋‍♀️ 😉

I’m happily onboard the jig wagon now. Back-to-back trips and these little guys have done well for me, most recently on a high country adventure. Black and tan colors have been working. Olive is on tap next, then we’ll look at bead colors. So much potential for targeting other species, using other techniques. Good fun so far.
