Wifes grandmothers red sauce, (sicillian, about 2 gallons) spaghetti dinner tonight with an italian chop salad plus a little Portuguese red wine. Her younger family in town.

This has two kinds of sausage, carrots, onions, pork neck bones, don't know what else. Reduced for 6 hours after initial cook. Also works for lasagna with a bit more reduction

I just buy good quality maple syrup and add my own bourbon to my taste. Much less cost.
I usually use it for my old fashions, but occassionally use it on pancakes or waffles. Helps that I work in the industry, the liquor industry, and get a discount or sometimes for free! These sourdough pancakes deserved it! But yes you could make something similar with a little aging barrel and then storing some good Vermont maple syrup in it.. afterward age an old fashioned or manhattan in a small barrel! Cheers!
