If he had decided to sit out the 2024 season, the Broncos would have still been on the hook for the full $39 million. Since the Steelers are paying Wilson $1.21 million, that cuts down on Denver's obligations to Wilson, so now, the Broncos will only owe him $37.79 million for the upcoming season. He gets nothing from them next year, having been released prior to the vesting date for the 2025 season.
The Broncos essentially have paid Wilson $124 million for two years of service and 11 wins ($11.2 million per win).

Niners being fiscally responsible. Cut Armstead and his $20mill who has been fighting foot issues the last couple years and picked up Floyd, Gross-Matos and now Elliot. Same money, better health, more production. Resigned Odum, one of the better special teams players. Tendered Jennings. Nothing flashy. Maybe grab a vet LB on the cheap to cover Greenlaw until he's full go, draft some OL and DBs. Resign Aiyuk. Run it back.

It will be interesting to see how Sam Darnold does after a year of learning from Shanahan.

Who will the Jets have at QB...
Rodgers is looking at a VP run it sounds like.
😄😁😅🤣😅😁😄
Tyrod Taylor just got an 18 million dollar deal, while they told Zach Wilson he was free to seek a trade...Denver needs a QB, and now that Darnold is off the table, seems like a Wilson to Wilson transition is a very Donkey like QB move.
😁

The Broncos are only on the hook for his salary this season. They would have been on the hook for his 2025 salary if they hadn't cut him before March 13th. The remaining cap hit (~$80M) is what is spread out over the next two years. Broncos don't owe him anything directly in 2025.

The confusion may stem from the fact that cap hits have to account for prorated signing bonuses etc. And if a player is cut, the remaining prorated money gets accelerated to all count on the cap for the season that the player was cut. The only tool teams have is to designate the player as a "post June 1" cut which allows the team to spread the cap hit over two seasons (which is what the Broncos have done). Plus, with RW's salary being ~$40M and the cap hit being ~$80M over two years, it's easy to think he's getting paid by them for two years.
I had not heard anything about that second year. Sportcasters were always bringing up those two guaranteed years. Thanks for the clarification.👍

x2....now they need to find a solid cornerback to play opposite Ward. And getting safety Hufanga back for 2024, who was playing lights out until his injury and was sorely missed in the SB, will be significant.
Power rankings for 2024 are currently Chiefs, Niners, Lions, Ravens...with the addition of Barkley to the Eagles, they should be right there as well.
And apparently Zak wants a new 300M contract from Dallas...for going 2 out of 5 in the playoffs?

Curious why the 9ers are adding a shotgun scattering of rapidly aging and/or mediocre defensive free agents. They have 11 draft picks at present, so why not go young? Smells a little desperate, like they are still trying to stop Mahomes in SB56 overtime.

I'm very intrigued by the house keeping being done by the new c-hawks. They have actually made some long overdue good moves to clean house. Now how will they rebuild their O and D lines?

Cards have a TON of draft capital this April. It will be hard for them to not improve their talent level. So far quiet in free agency.

Goodbye again to #54!! I hoped and thought he’d retire from the Hawks…..
Always nice to see a class act go out on his own terms and not those of others. At times just hanging on is a bit sad.

Bobby Wagner was the greatest piece in the LOB. Hall of Fame guaranteed.
Honest question:

Wagner > Earl Thomas?

I always thought that it all revolved around Thomas. He was not Ed Reed, but he was better than everyone else.

Wagner was one hell of a player though. He is also far more sane than Earl.

Signing a HOF'er at the end of his career is the most Washington thing ever.
