This is a fun little pattern for under an indicator or with sinking lines. Easy to throw with a 6 weight.
Supplies:If you don't have a jig head addiction like I do a simple slotted bead/hook would work too.
Step 1: Tie in a long clump of mallard flank feathers (apologies this pic is blurry).Step 2: Tie in a shorter tail of marabou. I try to get this all the way around the hook and use a bright color as an accent.Step 3: Prep a flank feather. Start small and look for thin stems. Tie in. Step 4: Wrap hackle style forward. Tie in flash. I like gold and krinkle mylar. Step 5: Continue picking feathers, tying in and wrapping feathers hackle style forward. It takes 4-6 to do a fly. Small stems is key so you dont get bumps and taking your time with small feathers. Step 6- Finish off with a deep red color thread and whip finish. Step 7- Take it for a dip
