Birds everywhere. The resident solo male Barn owl seems to still be mourning his lost mate that was electrocuted two summers back on the transformer out here. Sad stuff (he is sitting in very dark corner of our barn, but with the light boosting finder of a mirrorless camera the correct focus can be made -add a tripod for a 3 or so second exposure and he looks stage-lit).

Below: Turkey vulture from the deck and an immature Bald eagle just at the river here on Easter. Wing stretching season !

Thanks-always a tough shot without good lighting, add in all the weird angles of the barn's structure where you can't get the lines straight and still have owls sitting vertical..or if there is a shot, there is an old plow or tractor in the way...

Yes, I know, the gutter needs to be cleaned. I hear peacock are pretty good to eat.

jk

We had one roaming around for months a few years ago. It was a neighbor's that got out. Meanwhile the owner died. So we contacted a children's zoo/farm and they came and got it. It now has a nice 'home' on acreage with several other peacocks and bunch of other animals.

This backyard is in Palos Verdes Estates, there are lots of peacocks by the library a few miles from the house. First one the family has seen in their part of PVE.

Sad outcome for the gal, beautiful birds. Hopefully the guy can get out there for a “cougar” here soon.

Thank you for the photos!

This morning hiked into a favorite "backyard" higher elevation stream. Sometimes the nature just puts a smile on your face. Saw this fellow in a very familiar perch for him ....

When this youngster came in and perched just above him ...

Not sure if that set too well ...

Didn't too stay long ...

Let me get up really close this morning, just about right underneath him:

Head screwed on backwards:

... "Really, you thought that was funny?" (giving me the stink eye)

To be continued ...
