YES! Finally someone that knows the truth of this color combo. I can GUARANTEE this fly works in any west side lakes. Burnt orange, black and add olive flash, literally the last week have had more people pissed at me than ever before.

Never even met them, but for some reason when you’re the only guy, let alone fly fisherman, slaying fish when the bite is off you’re instantly hated. Happened now multiple lakes.
I used it in three Central Washington lakes and it was very effective in all three last week.
In the last lake I fished 2 gear/bait dunkers launched same time as me,
They caught 5 fish and I landed 15 in the same amount of time.

Ha! Good to know it works further East, I usually start venturing over from time.

I think the combo works so well because many lakes in WA have various Erpobdella leeches which are brownish/orange and black.

A selection of stuff that didn't work. I don't just fish the same shit all day. Catch a few, then try other stuff, go to another confidence fly get a few, change again. Try different techniques too, just a fun game. The higa was a winner, bent out right at the net.

I got this fly in a bull trout swap a few years ago on the other site. Fished it today on my lunch break and this alligator gar shot off the bank and t boned the fly so hard and fast it was crazy. 20# tippet and a lucky hook location barely sealed the deal. Pretty pumped to add another new species to the growing list.

Thank you guys for this pattern/color combo! A jig leech with the black and orange combo just got me three decent stockers in a row. I'll be tying more.
Hell yeah! I usually always have a 3.8 tungsten version on my weighted line rod and I can’t put it down.

Just hit big ol summit lk for two hours on the tube and landed 5 bows and 3 smallmouth. It’s a killer fly.

I add a little ball of dirty olive dubbing and then a brown/black indian hackle head. Probably not needed to be honest.

This little crab crushed em yesterday. If I got it within 1’ of a reds nose it was 100% getting eaten. It was a little tough for me in the first hour to not want to lead the fish with the cast, but after I saw how it went when I just sent it right at his head I was good for the rest of the day. Splat, sink, twitch, set, repeat. I love redfish!

Lots of mayflies and caddis coming off, however the gentleman I fished next to couldn't get a rise to a dry. I introduced him to the indicator, and fixed him up with a leech and for a few hours we were pulling fish like mad. Lots of looks from the bait fishers as we kept laughing loudly at how fast the bobber was going down, stockers leaping about, and then throwing the fish back.

Went up to the mixed species reservoir between storms. Caught a bunch of trout, and lost a bass and a crappie. The little sz 14 leech just didn't seem to hold, or? I think I may need to reassess how to fish this one.

the 10' rod helps from shore, didn't want to get caught out in the tube when the wind came up with the storms.

A Chan's micro leech was the best this morning.
