Used Davie McPhail’s Loch Harry fly as a basis with some modifications. The only thing I hate more than knotting pheasant tail legs is watching them disappear after a few trout munch on the fly (although they do look so cool) so I used a pheasant body feather instead to get a somewhat similar effect; trout here don’t care either way. Getting down to the last of my white pronghorn (you can see stains on some of the hairs); I will be very, very sad when that’s used up as my hunter friend doesn’t have any more.

Gold Digger

Streamer Fly

Tail – Red and yellow hackle feather, opposed
Ribbing – Red floss
Body – White chenille
Wing – White bucktail
Cheek – Jungle cock
Collar – red and yellow hackle

This streamer. fly was originally tied for rainbow trout but in a larger size took a great many bass last season, so it was dubbed the Gold Digger. Daintily dressed, it is not reminiscent of feminine pulchritude, but a deceptive siren always.

Someone mentioned peacock and bronze peacock in a recent post here on tying leeches so I decided to give it a try. You’ll need a different color maribou but that might work in one of the darker lakes with muddy bottoms and brownish vegetation.
I think that was me a while back. Funny this was recently posted, as the bronze peacock was THE color today. I ended up sharing what I had with two other fly fishers as fishing was really slow for them too until they tied on one of these. Bead color didn't matter again though. Effective testing.
