I was just thinking the same. They stand to gain absolutely nothing else from winning tonight, and in the process, they would send the team that just eliminated them from the playoffs there in their place. That's some deep-rooted hate! Solid rivalry....God damn, the lions are playing with some heart. Literally to only send Aaron Rodgers home
I have a hard time believing that NFL players won't give it their all in any game regardless of circumstances. I suppose some of the tanking reports could be exceptions, but considering how many players have stat based incentives in their contracts, as well as how stats play into future contracts, I just dont imagine too many of them are keen on just rolling over just because the game doesn't matter towards their playoff aspirations.
And that's not to mention the natural competitiveness that I believe is pretty strong in most athletes that make it to that level.
Just my opinion of course, but I think for the most part these guys want to play hard at all times for a multitude of reasons.
There is playing hard, and there is playing with desperation.
Props to Dan Campbell for getting the Lions to play so hard.
Yeah, but I think Nick's mostly right; if football is your livelihood, you want to win, because anything less feels like failure. Taking pride in your work, at the end of the day. For sure, players sometimes skip out on preseason games/practices/etc. to protect their bodies in contract years, but regular season and playoff games all seem to mean something to players. One big reason would be fear of injury. Could you imagine blowing your ACL on the final game of the season when youre fighting for nothing, essentially missing the entire next season?
Go Lions!
This is looking pretty good....

These Lions are making me a believer!

Anybody hear from GOTY or Mossback lately?
They were balls deep on the Hawks after their first few wins and now....they have gone off screen taking the fluffer roles?
Hope they are okay?
