Al Michaels and Kirk Herbstreit are the announcers.
Ouch! Al is going to have to work hard to get a word in edgewise. Herbstreit has become such a motor mouth and has taken over-analyzing to a level we haven't seen since the days of Al DeRogatis. DeRogatis hammered away at the minutiae of the game ad infinitum and was a complete bore to listen to. The joke back then was at some point DeRogatis was going to give an in depth analysis of why and how players used the toilet during halftime.

Herbstreit's mantra appears to be that there is a lengthy explanation for even the most trivial action on the field and there is to be no moment of silence while he is in the booth. And no football cliche' or jargon will ever be overlooked.

Does anyone remember Ray Scott-the great Packers announcer back in the day? Scott was a man of few but meaningful words. Scott did something that modern announcers just don't do-he assumed that you were watching the game and he didn't need to describe what you had just seen. I sure miss the minimalist broadcasting I grew up with, it bred good announcers with an intimate knowledge of the games. No more Vin Scullys, John Maddens or Keith Jacksons on the horizon. Al Michaels is the last vestige of the greats, the rest are jacks of all trades that do every sport from the World Series to tractor pulls but do none of them real well.

Trey Lance or Jamal Adams: which is the worse wasted draft pick storyline?

Adams by far. Lance could still develop into a passer. Look at Josh Allen, threw more picks than TDs (10 TDs, 12 INTs) his rookie year. That said....Lance doesn't look that great so far. Long way to go.

Logan Bruss... ?

Nah

Bad form to bag on game injured players, karma and all that stuff... but you do you.

Answer is still Jared Goff however.

Maybe a case made for Rick Mirer, Ryan Leaf, or any of the Raiders picks in the last 6 years....

But yeah...
Jared Goff for sure.

🤣

Leaf was a real disappointment
Not a surprise
Wasn’t it him or Manning for first pick in around’98
I think it was

Manning was first pick and Leaf was the second pick...

Should not overlook Lawrence Phillips here either...1996 6th overall pick., and then the Rams traded Jerome Bettis to the Steelers the same day.

The Rams cut Phillips during the 1997 season in part because the number of days he had spent in jail (23) was more than the number of starts he had made for the team (20).

Lance has been the starter for one game in a heavy rain missing the pro bowl TE and the starting RB for most of the game. He did OK, not great.

Yeah, probably time to lump him in with Russel and Leaf. But not Goff. Nobody deserves that. ;)

The only way Hawks win is if their $18 million per year safety Jamal Adams plays…. 😂
SF
The “only way”? Yes, it would be great to have Adams, but I talk to him the other day and he even said the Hawks won’t win only with only him in.
That’s similar to RW saying that he carried the team on his back.

And the RAMS won the Super Bowl in the 1999 season. Cutting Phillips was wise.

I'm not a big Amazon fan and I didn't realize until just now that tonites game is on Amazon Prime. Being a Duck fan I really wanted to see Herbert in action so I signed up for Amazon Prime free 30 day trial. My old password from a prior purchase still worked so signing in wasn't too bad. But when I get in and started viewing the game I noticed that there still are commercials. Really? So I guess you have to pay to watch events but you still have to watch commercials. All I can say is that I'm glad its a free trial and go Chargers. Mahomes is a great q b so it should be a good game.

I hate games like this. 2 teams I should hate based on being in the Broncos division, but I really like Herbert, Mahomes & Reid. All around solid humans right there.

Hot take: these two QBs are pretty good.
