Bamboo Fling

Thanks for organizing this event I had a great time and enjoyed casting all the different flavors of rods. It would be fun to put together a bamboo Spey casting get together also in the future. And thanks to Tim and mike for there shared knowledge which I will apply to my current rod and future builds. I think in the future I will try to bring more lines to try on rods and wish I should have taken more pics myself. It was also a pleasure to meet everyone and look forward to future outings. Tight lines Dennis

Always great meeting everyone and a nice turn out considering the threat of rain. As always enjoy casting all the great rods and soaking up the knowledge. The dry weather was a nice surprise...
I am totally in on a bamboo double hand casting demo on the water. Watching Dennis smoothly shoot line was mesmerizing, especially with such slow action rods.

Hey Mark, I will get you dialed in just need to let the rivers settle down and pick a time that works out. It was fun watching you slit the culm with out gloves and not needing medical attention 😀

I had a wonderful time today. I was a little concerned when I showed up around a half hour early and there was just two of us there. But as the others started to show up, I was not disappointed. We had 12 or 13 people there and a lot of fly line was tossed around. There was some talk about doing this again in the fall and doing something with bamboo spy rods. My thinking is put the word out and see what happens. See you all next time.

Thanks again Jerry for keeping this event on everyone's calendar. It was great to see old friends and make some new friends or put faces to the members of this forum. I thought there were more rods to look at and cast than any of the previous flings. I was in awe of some of those bamboo Spey rods that were strung up. If there is a Spey gathering on some moving water I'll try to be there just to see these rods in proper action. Dave thanks again for letting me string up one of my rods with your 406 5wt DT line, you made me a believer and I'll be ordering up a couple of those soon. I really liked the way it casts and shoots through the guides. Thanks to Mark and Bill for the snacks and beverages. Fun day all around.

So fun! Thanks for bringing so many rods and the snacks too. Learning about splitting the cane was very cool! Always fun to cast and even though I only cast a few rods it was great! I think doing something this fall would be fun, spey or otherwise. Lots of places we could meet locally on the water or if others want it down south a bit I'm open to that. Great pictures too! Cheers! Bill

Maybe that unique approach offers some distinct advantage that the rest of us are unaware of or not creative enough to understand but try as I might I can't figure out what that would be.
