That’s kind of you to invite us Ron, but we’ll be going further north a bit early on in our travels. Plan is to go east after that, then loop clockwise and probably through YNP towards the end of the trip but we’re still not certain of our exact itinerary.Greg, if you and your wife are in Yellowstone that weekend join us for a day on the Firehole with bamboo rods in hand.
The Firehole is great, although it's right along the road! I had a close encounter with buffalo on the Firehole, as they lumbered by, and the cars stopped and basically directed them right at me and a couple from Virgina. All was good, but that was one of two encounters on my quick 3 day trip! The next morning I was sitting at the picnic table, in the W Yellowstone campground when 7 or 8 buffalo came right through my campground, including a calf! I never moved so fast and jumped in my truck, just to be safe! That’s kind of you to invite us Ron, but we’ll be going further north a bit early on in our travels. Never fished the Firehole, hope you do well!

What did you get or order? Inquiring minds need to know! Haha!!Well, a little more than a month to go. Hope we get a few more people interested. I just put in an order for a new bamboo rod, should be ready for next year's fling.
I noticed a thread called “New Bamboo” that spoke of a new rod maker in Sisters Oregon named Olivia Elia. I watched a video clip, liked what I saw and liked the comments I read and ordered a 7'9" 4 weight rod based on a Payne 101 taper. It will be 6 or 7 months before I get my new treasure. What did you get or order? Inquiring minds need to know! Haha!!
What bamboo will you bring Salmo G. You also need to bring some of your hardy reels.June 12 just might work for me, and I could attend this time. Hope so!
Dunno for sure. I'll just grab a hand full. Some of the rod appropriate lines are on Hardys; some are not. What bamboo will you bring Salmo G. You also need to bring some of your hardy reels.
Dennis, bring your Dawn Holbrook bamboo fly rods. Be fun to see how they compare to a 7 weight phillipson or a 7 weight Winston.Jerry, I’m on this thread and thank you for the invite and look forward to this gathering. Tight lines Dennis
I will bring the Holbrooks and I will bring a couple red willow rods that I know you will enjoy. I might bring a couple two handers also if anyone is interested if not I will stick to the single handers.Dennis, bring your Dawn Holbrook bamboo fly rods.
