That looks like a simple productive fly.
I just sat down and tied it. I've never used this specific fly. The nice thing about fishing for searuns is that most of the time it doesn't really matter what the fly looks like. I try to tie flies I like the look of. I've caught them with a brown wooly bugger but I'd prefer to catch them with something a little prettier. That looks like a simple productive fly.
What do you swing it for? ….anything that might wanna chase baitfish ?
Looks a lot like an amped up Gartside Soft hackle. I like yer version a little better, especially with the pearl colored body. Did you prop up the marabou at all?
Yeah there is pearl estaz under thereLooks a lot like an amped up Gartside Soft hackle. I like yer version a little better, especially with the pearl colored body. Did you prop up the marabou at all?
Thanks. Might have to copy that one.Yeah there is pearl estaz under there
A big pargo and a dorado are a couple of the things I didn't accomplish. Guessing you guys will see all kinds of dorado with the high water temps. Bet those 3/0 flies will do nicely if you are in the middle of them with no stripies around.Yeah, I'm short on stuff larger than 3/0 but just ordered some 4/0 and 5/0 last night. Started out to tie some smaller inshore stuff but got carried away and went into marlin mode.
Me, planning on dredging? that's absolutely something I want to do. I'll add some tan/white clousers and black stuff for grouper and pargo. A big cubera is up there on the wish list... actually along with pretty much everything else.
That is super clean. I will certainly be copying that one
