Puget Sound

Well things got interesting Fri. Caught the evening high rise at deep area 13. Not much happening so I wandered up to a small creek mouth. Water was calm. Got a little nip on a squimp. Next cast, bam a solid hookup. A little heft in this one. A nice resi-silver. Bigger than expected for this time of year, 18 inches. Caught 3 others in succession. None of them were clipped. Damn, so much for the bbq. Three hours fishing, 20 minutes of action.

I've been wondering about fishing the mouth of a creek in the salt.. at what point are you still within the regs if said creek is closed to fishing?

Took the Lund out yesterday evening. Was kind of a spur of the moment escape. Didn't quite dress for the cool damp. Found a couple dinks. Said Hi to Sammy Seal and watched a few Bald Eagles flying over me. Got some maintenance work to do on the Yamaha, the latch that holds the motor up doesn't latch.

Much windier than forecast today. Still a nice Easter Sunday out on the water.
Started fishing at 5:30 and calked it a day at 9:30.

Had a interesting experience today.
Was fishing the top half of a nice seam. A guy shows up with his dog and starts tossing a retrieve stick in at the bottom of the seam, which pissed me off as I had just missed a fish.
He continues tossing the stick as he walks towards me.
As he gets just a few feet below me, he tosses the stick which lands on my line while I’m stripping in. I soon have a black lab swimming circles directly below me. I say WTF dude and he says “my apologies, I didn’t see you”.
I have no idea how he couldn’t have seen me since I was casting and stripping the whole time he was walking towards me.
That pretty much killed that water so I headed to one of my favorite glass beaches to look for glass and put some miles in my human odometer.
Found some nice glass. A picture just for @Wadin' Boot ;)

I have not seen the swimmer in a few trips now. I’m hoping the transient orcas didn’t have her as a Scooby snack.

No dogs at any of beaches I hit yesterday, but I did get low-holed something fierce a couple of times by a local otter. One of the times he came barreling down the beach, jumped in and popped up about a rod and half length in front of me. If you can't beat em, join 'em I guess.
