That is the disparity in size between the two.
The guide I fish with mentioned the coming “funky discharges” in April that are actually hard releases at night generally, to help scour the river bottom and intake chambers of a moss-like substance that builds up over winter.

My most memorable day winter steelheadin were in the snow...used to take a snow day and go fish when I was young, then when I got older did the same.snow and fishing..... never worked for me. not even winter steelheading
