Thank God for Sirius XM radio…got to listen to several games while driving from Mercer Island WA to Twin Falls ID…Santa Clara pur a scare into the Kentucky blue bloods…
That was rough. However... go watch the last 10 seconds again.SC was robbed! Their coach was calling for a TO which was unnoticed, and the clock didn't start for a second on the inbounds. Kinda a big deal when you only have 2.4 seconds to score 3 points.
When the SC player's shot was blocked and the Kentucky player snagged it and then threw it to a teammate downcourt, it looked like he traveled. I know the announcers brought that up and looked at play again. It was hard to understand them. Did they think he traveled or did it just look awkward? That was rough. However... go watch the last 10 seconds again.
1- Great shot by Graves
2- His teammates started celebrating even though there were 2.4 seconds left. In college hoops, the clock stops from the time it's through the hoop until the person that receives the inbounds touches it. Clock work looks correct to me.
ALL 3 guards did NOT guard anyone. We're talking NOBODY!
3- Sendek was late AND chased the wrong ref. The dude was already, rightfully, running away from the SC bench to get ready for the UK shot attempt. Coach should have been ready sooner and/or run to the baseline ref.
I was pulling for SC the whole way, but it just showed their lack of experience winning in this tourney. Play to the whistle and play to the buzzer. Heartbreaker for sure. Also an instant classic.
Yeah, looked like a travel, but they'll never call that one. I mean, a scramble for the ball, after a great blocked shot (terrible decision to shoot it) and he passes it ahead. Very few refs are gonna call that in a OT game no matter what teams and time of year. When the SC player's shot was blocked and the Kentucky player snagged it and then threw it to a teammate downcourt, it looked like he traveled. New norm. Here's an obscure stat from round one: only 7 times in the history of the tournament that the 13-14-15 seed teams have gone winless and now it’s happened 2 years in a row. Obviously NIL and the transfer portal has a lot to do with this. As soon as a guy at Prairie View, Furman, or some other low/mid major blows up, he’s gone. Will it get back to the craziness of Madness or is this the new norm?
No outside shooting at all…i was sorry to see them leave….Well, I was worried about this scenario. Longhorns shot a bunch of layups, which helped them shoot 52% from the field. Nearly impossible to beat a team that shoots that well if you don't make 3s. And Zags haven't made 3s all year. Disappointment after winning 30 games, but onto next year!
They weren't good enough to be a F4 team even with Huff. This team wasn’t good enough without Huff.
