Bad cold or something viral

Question - Surely others here read Med labels to stay away those that have BP issues. This presents a problem, a least for me, as some of the major ingredients needed to smack the bad, consistent, cough in the face are not present in those safe for those of us who are careful about regulating BP. Love to hear how you are handling this.

Yeah I don't know how OJ ever got touted as a remedy. That much acid on a raw throat alone is brutal. All for, what, a little vitamin C? The blood sugar spike and everything else will set you back further than whatever something like a little vitamin C would assist with
Big Orange strikes again. They kept bananas off boats and have succeeded in prolonging cold symptoms to maximize profits. Follow the money......🍊

Seriously though, hope all who are sick start feeling better soon!

A few weeks ago I had to go to ER being sick similar to what you have. With my problems the doctors had to do a full look over me (including X rays and lots of blood and other checks).

Luckily I found out to have 2 different types of Flu. Say luckily because if not flu it's something really bad and away to hospital I go, ER gave me Tamaflu and antibiotics.

Abby is on day 2 1/2. Came home from school Wed and barfed in a bag while working on her bike in the garage.
Fever, chills, nausea, vomiting. She's upset because she lost her perfect attendance for the year @school.
Tried weak green tea with lemon, nope. Weak black tea with honey, nope. Watered down chicken soup, maybe lasted 2 hours. Making sure she at least gets water into her.
Edit: well things have gone downhill quickly. Kay now has whatever this is and it's hitting her hard. And we have two neurotic dogs afraid for mom.

Think I'm gonna do a @Salmo_g and sleep on the recliner so at least one of us isn't impacted.

One of the advantages of living a semi hermit-like, limited exposure to the nasties.

Get well and take care all!!!!

Hope things run their course quickly! As bad as being sick is, seeing your child sick is worse I'm sure! Take care of yourself as well!

I've said a few times this week that I legitimately feel like I have two different things going on.

Been a rollercoaster all week. Get to almost feeling better only to get knocked on my ass again.

I'm feeling better today, after a first couple of tough hours.. I did get plenty of sleep though. I'm not going to push myself though, as I felt pretty good most of Thursday, until after dinner and crashed hard. Hang in there Evan! The Zicam has helped me, last night and this morning!

What i had was bad. Too point my wife wanted me to go to the ER (do to the lung problems I had from the stroke). I think overall I had a good 3 bad weeks of the bug.

My experience is that if you're generally healthy and not in a certain age bracket, good luck getting a scrip for a "sinus infection" if it hasn't hit the 2-week mark, no matter how colorful the products. Gotta save the antibiotics for the factory farm livestock, can't give 'em to me. Not until 2 weeks of suffering has passed, anyway. Which, is usually about a week or two after the onset of the initial virus for me, so it has ended up being a solid month of crud from a cold + infection.
Bring brownies to the medical team AND Doc and THEN ask for Z-pak....

My Rx and preferred medicine for a bad cold (or just the hint of a slight sniffle) is a good brandy snifter with a nice cognac. This therapy is best administered in a quiet, dimly-lit room close to a blazing fire (omit the fire if you don't have a fireplace or wood stove).

Dispense a small amount of the medicine into your snifter so as to maximize its surface area in the snifter's bowl. Warm the bowl using external heat (your loving hands cupping the snifter will work for this step - be patient!) and swirl the medicinal spirits around in the snifter so that they wet the interior of the warmed bowl , bring the mouth of the snifter to your nose and inhale slowly and deeply through the nostrils. You should feel the rejuvenating, aromatic medicine pass through your nasal passage and finally reach deep down into your lungs. Admire the amber medicine in the dim light and take a tiny sip. Repeat.

Do not rush this process. This therapy must be practiced slowly and the patient should be in a calm mind and relaxed state. (Important: You won't have the proper state of mind if you try to include the fire but lack a stove or fireplace -see above).

Replenish the snifter with additional cognac as required.

Also appropriate as a preventative measure.

Ohmmmmmm....😀

A few years back I had a cold but felt well enough to sit at the bench and tie some flies. Then while using both hands to carefully wrap a hackle, I sneezed creating a chaos of feathers flying all over the place. I suppose I could have been a little neater with my materials or even wore a mask but it was a hilarious lesson at the time. Now I just stay away from the vise until well. Lesson learned.
