What Are You Eating?

Went and decide to eat an old traditional, since my doctor gave me the ok on foods.

Fell in loves with these when I was an exchange in Germany in the 80s. My Host Mom made them so damn good. And her step kids wouldn't eat them so she fell in love with me that I loved those, and other foods, she normally wouldn't get a chance to make.

So today I wad German style rouladen. Made the gravy with dripping from them in the pot. I've been good about my eating, but really wanted to eat more. Made fresh mashed potatoes and green beans.

Now I'm full and happy.

Miss your food and you Jerry! Loved it every time at the Hoh Down and at the Lake Tye FF event. We've all learned so much from you!

Cheers my friend! Let's go fish when you're up to it! So glad you're doing better!

Ohhh I love it. I was looking at the pictures before reading the text and I called it, “Is he actually making rouladen?” Yup. My dad used to make that. I haven’t had it in years. I can almost smell the vinegar-beef-onion combo…fun to bring a girlfriend home for dinner for rouladen, lol.

Next time we know we'll be near each other, I'll make you some.

I looked at that second picture and thought "holy cow, those are rouladen!." Just like mom used to make. Man, I miss those!

Take care @Jerry Daschofsky. Glad you're doing better!

Another indicator Jerry is well on the mend. Cooking like the Master he is.

I think Brunos in Lakewood is still open. They definitely had rouladon on the menu.
Wife and I love going to Brunos. I have to see my blood doctor in Lakewood and head to Brunos on the way home on an evening appointment with doctor.

My wife fell in love with the place. Run similar bit not quite like a gasthaus. Lots of good German, Swiss, Polish and Czech foods to pick from. They've got a fairly good European beer and wine menu to pick from too.

Semi-Mexican snow day Saturday beans.

Moro beans with onion, garlic, chile powder, cumin, salt, pepper, bay leaf, a couple morita peppers, chopped smoked pork shoulder, and a smoked beef shank to tie the room together.

Probably won't suck.
Just made chili with leftover prime rib I vacuum packed after Christmas…Spanish chorizo, and basically what you put into your beans, which look ono…

Been cooking a lot lately! Tonight we had lumpia, bought them at the store, but they were good. Will make them sometime along with some pansit.

Did a meatloaf, sourdough blueberry muffins and a sourdough crust pizza.

Also made some salmon candy and pickled green beans recently!

Cheers!

Tried herb crusted lamb as a Saturday night treat using a Gordon Ramsay recipe, very good, maybe need a slight hotter oven re a litttle more browning but was carefully following the recipe as first time I’d tried it. Only bummer was I’m off alcohol for a while post the holidays. My wife said her cab went really well with it…
