Should have gone fishing today. Nice day regardless.

There’s always next year Stonedfish! Happy new fishy year!

99% sure I recognize that spot and exactly where the boat is on a drop tide there occasional SRC come in right there and hang for a few, though they spook easy as much of that bay is flat, seals patrol the exits and perhaps more attractive to flounder than SRC.
There were in fact patrolling seals!99% sure I recognize that spot and exactly where the boat is on a drop tide there occasional SRC come in right there and hang for a few, though they spook easy as much of that bay is flat, seals patrol the exits and perhaps more attractive to flounder than SRC.

But with extra power and tenacity that comes with a forked tail and having to occasionally face the prospect of shark attack.wow i bet they put up a good fight, kind of like the bluegill i catch in summer on freshwater lakes?
Ooh that’s an interesting upgrade that I hadn’t heard of! Looks like it is compatible with my MK Endura Max 55, too.Went squidding this morning for a couple of hours to try out my new install of the Autoboat smart head, it gives normal trolling motor spot lock ability and more. I used a 36lb trolling motor with it, max speed was 4.2kts on calm water.
Works great, spot lock definitely a must for squidding.

J-shaped investment curve due to squid tariffs means K-Fish is positioned very well to win 2026' Squid Game. Indifference curves are moderating, humped yield curves have declined since concrete Pink rallies of August-September 2025, and the much-vaulted and/or much-vaunted inverted yield curve appears to be tracking closely with success of Rams and/or Seahawks football team and, obviously, inversely correlated with PNW snowpack. So, amortized, are these squid over or under a hundo each now?![]()
If you did that well….stick with what works! I’m a 95% lake guy too, but a quick SRC/rezzie fix gets me outta the house on short days.I'm usually more of a lake guy, but I had a few hours and fished a nearby beach yesterday. Caught one 15" SRC and 6 juvenile coho in the rain. A few questions for those of you that spend a lot of time on the beach than I do:
1. What is your go to leader set up? I see a lot of recommendations for 6-8lb flouro...can you afford to go heavier knowing the extra wear and tear that you encounter on the beach?
2. Does fly selection vary between sunny days and dark days this time of year? I did well with orange/peach yesterday and white flies didn't seem to do much.
