What's Catching You Fish?

My very first trip hosting Mr Canoe and he sticks a pig on about 3rd cast.

Not a big numbers day but tangled with some fine fatties . So weird to look down the gullet of a bully and see that crazy rubbery thingy too

Hey go luck Randy! Let us know how it goes

Jesus, you two!

I'm actually heading down to that river that ends in olius to meet up w my friend Mr. Chin later today.
Good luck... I miss the Lady M. I loved visiting her in the early hours, the hours she has a reputation for being asleep, but she would often rouse, if only for a short while to give me some pleasure.

Cheers

Whelp, I destroyed some whitefish....oddly enough mostly on the tool fly, which I'll try to get a pic of in the near future.

srry, this has gotta wait....

This: (just now realized I didn't get the barb all the way crimped--but it did slide out of my finger easily when I hooked myself releasing a fish)

Used these three flys

To land some of these

I landed 2 fish, but had 5 others take line off the reel and not hook up or come unbuttoned in less than 4 hours of fishing. Fishing was great despite (because of?) the 15-20 mph wind straight in the face. Actually the wind totally quit for about 30 minutes and fishing was best during that short time.

Forget the fish - that’s a beautiful well loved hat.

I didn't actually tie this fly - it was in an assortment I got about 10 years ago from Jeffrey Delia when I first started trying to figure out how to catch Northern California/Southern Oregon SRC's. Jeffrey calls this fly the brown wonder worm. It's supposed to imitate a polychaete and it turns out it works great on Devils Lake cutthroat. It was also a very effective fly for the Klamath, Smith and Chetco River tidewaters.

That kinda looks like a cousin to the Wiggle Tail, one of my favorites for lakes too

The new copies of my favorite wiggle bug did not fail to perform in Mason County lakes

No pic of the best fish - a 22" cutthroat (!)
It flipped itself out of the net twice and spit the fly after the third netting, so after a quick check against the gunwale ruler, I got him back in the water asap
Some of the others:

This one was on a similar streamer without the wiggle (but was such a pretty fish I thought I'd share!)
