Baseball 2025

Shit. I’ll have to drink three big dumpers again. but prefer others. But I’ll sacrifice and drink a 2-3 big dumpers like tonight. That’s why they won. 😆

One more is gonna be tough. They can do it. Not sure they’ll do it. But we did advance and win a 3rd game like mentioned before . So maybe 2048 be our year. To get to WS. Weird imagining the M’s in the World Series. But hey?

One more !!!!.

Apparently the best thing I can do for the Mariners is not watch them. I decided to row downstream and swing a fly for the last 3 innings. Came back to the house and my wife was watching the Great British Baking show. I'm thinking, sh*t, the M's are down six runs and she changed the channel. Ha, and I was saying a few days ago that Wilson should pull Suarez and play Williamson.

Curious to see all the HAWT TAKES if Springer is seriously injured after that HBP from Woo. Looked pretty bad. Conspiracy nuts are gonna call it intentional because the M's had such a good excuse with Woo coming off the IL.

FS1 telecast claimed that the ball rebounding off his knee had a 55mph velocity. That says something. As a human, I genuinely hope no serious harm was done. Nobody wants to see that. But as an M's fan, maybe he should sit out a game or two and rest up, just to be safe?

EDIT: Seeing reports that initial xrays on the knee are negative (I assume for anything broken or badly torn?)

That's what I thought when I tuned into the last two games in the 2nd or 3rd innings. I assumed it was all my doing.

Tonight, however, I tuned in at the top of the 8th. Curse off. Grand Salami Time. Life is good again and I shall be held blameless.

The sound of direct fastball on bone…

In the overwhelming Dodger sweep their much maligned starting pitching staff gave up 4 runs in 4 games. Three home runs by the starting pitcher along with 10 strikeouts and no runs has set a high bar that will probably never be seen again. Glad I got to see history made, the Dodgers 25th NL pennant and a chance for another World Series win, Woo-Hoo!!!

I mean, if your payroll is $100 mill more than anybody else then you better win. Buy the best players and win. How boring....

M's seem to be mid-pack payroll wise and are doing it with some homegrown stars.

I'd get back into MLB a lot more if they had a NBA style salary cap. You can pay more, but at a certain level it gets exponentially more expensive.

That said Ohtani is amazing as a player.

He's the most talented ball player that has ever lived.

No one has seen anything like it. I think an argument can be made that last nights Sho was the single greatest baseball performance by any one player. A pitcher pitches 5+ shutout innings with 10 KOs would be said to be a dominating performance, a hitter hits 3 HRs in one game, he took the game over, put the team on his back, etc - put the two together in a single player, and ... not sure there are the superlatives ...

the above from a Dodgers hater

Go Royals (2026)

Hard to argue otherwise. That said, Derek Jeter compared our own Cal Raleigh to Ohtani last night. He missed 3 games all year (as a catcher!!!), managed a good pitching staff, and, oh yeah, has hit 60+ home runs. That's pretty unworldly, almost Ohtani-level stuff. Pretty high praise, especially considering the source, who was one of the best ever himself.

Maybe we'll get to see them go head-to-head pretty soon here. That would be fun.

Catcher may be the most difficult position to play in baseball from a physical and mental standpoint…they are the qb of the team. Then take into consideration having to throw out runners stealing bases, and blocking the plate when a big dude is running full speed towards you while you watch for the ball to come in…and hit 60 dingers on top of that?…

One more impressive stat for a catcher, had zero passed balls in the regular season.

Last nights game tying dinger was special. Don't think I've ever watched him show that level of emotion heading back to the dugout. I think he gets the MVP vote over Judge.
