Rain

Ok, my bad.
I’ll like it again next summer when it is f’n 95° and we are wishing it was 45° and raining. 😉 😂

🤣
The only good rain falls at night, and on the weekend...
The rest is bad rain.

Hope this helps.
😅🤣😅🤣

Maybe it's just me...but I can't ever remember wishing it was 45⁰ and raining during the summer...as we get enough of that the other 10 months of the year.
;)

An atmospheric river storm system will move through the region Tuesday and Wednesday, bringing in potentially significant rainfall that could drive some rivers in western Washington into flood stage.

There is still a fair amount of uncertainty regarding river flooding mid-week, but the latest rainfall forecast shows 4 to 7 inches over the Olympic Peninsula with snow levels as high as 6000-7000 feet.

Models show large variability in the forecast, with as much as 8 inches or higher over the Olympics in less than 48 hours. The northern and central Cascades will also see heavy rainfall during this period, with up to 4 inches of liquid forecast through Wednesday.

The Skokomish River is currently forecast to enter moderate flood stage by Wednesday, and other area rivers will continue to be monitored including the Chehalis River.

Forecast models show potential for additional significant precipitation entering western Washington towards the end of the week, which could cause additional river flooding impacts.

It all sounds so wonderful...
:ROFLMAO:

^^^ This forecast sounds better than the Seahawks game tonight.

Bring the snow to the mountains! My daughter wants snow now so she can learn how to snowboard.

Just had some gutter guards installed. Two different configurations as a test to see which is better. This amount of rain will determine that for sure...

Good for her but fair warning—learning to snowboard in my 20s was a hard couple - few days of torture before any pay off. Still easier than surfing though.

Good idea on the gutter guard experiment. I’m curious about your results—maybe an NFR post when you have them? It could be SFR though since if you don’t have to clean gutters it means more potential time to fish.

Yeah colder, with bigger raindrops that are closer together....
That's the ticket.
🙄

Ah

Ah! Gutter guards. I guess it's been 15 years or so now; I hired a seemless gutter xspurt to install gutters after having a new roof installed. The xspurt contractor finished the job, a nice looking job. No complaints. Sometimes things can be hidden and they were. The gutter guards, in my case, were perforated aluminum screwed into the top flange of the gutters. I guess it was six or seven years after the installation and during a heavy rain that I discovered water flowing out of what was supposed to be the "upstream" (non-downspout) end of the kitchen/dining room run. Huh?! WTH?

The next day, when it stopped raining, I got out my extension ladder to investigate. I removed the perforated (perf plate) gutter guards on that run and found the gutter from the downspout to the "upstream" end full of catkins, the catkins were especially packed at the downspout. We have a large birch tree in our front yard; birch tree = countless (billions, maybe trillions or gazillions) of catkins. The catkins readily flow into the gutters passing through the perforations. The perf plate on the run noted completely hid (masked?) the fact that the dead end was lower in elevation than the downspout. That's been corrected and that run doesn't have a perf plate gutter guard anymore.

The living room run also clogged so I ended up using a hole saw on the upstream end and every year, after a few gazillion catkins have dropped, remove the tiny screen on the hole and flush the gutter. The perf plate does an excellent job keeping out leaves.

I think birch tree catkins and perforated gutter guards aren't a match.

NOW: back to your regularly scheduled "rain" discussion.

Have you ordered that plan yet? 😂

Oh yeah...
Just went outside to check...
A balmy 38⁰
Rain drops, while small, are very close together.
Hoping for more of this...especially during the day...
In summer
:)

Here's an experimental product from the Climate Prediction Center. Verification times are around 10 days into the future - the 12Z 12/16/24 GEFS is suggesting a pattern with multiple atmospheric river-impacted wave cyclones/frontal systems. The CPC is really jumping on it robustly with this Moderate Risk (40%-60% chance) of rainfall totals exceeding Flash Flood guidance.

And then there's this:

Dayum... when it rains it pours!

Like @RCF I just had GutterGard brand installed on the new 3400sf home for about $2000 w/ moss spray too. Performed great this fall with our huge maples and a birch in back. No ladder time for this old fart.

I hope that messy birch doesn't thwart your good efforts, a la what happened to poor Buzzy.
