NFR NFL - 2022

The business side of the NFL really showed its head today.

Yup
Wagner was a 20 million plus a bit cap hit.
So they save 16 or so million by releasing him.
My favorite Seahawk for sure, but so it goes.
They'll be more moves, like I said earlier, so if you're the type who lives and breathes football, it'll be a rough stretch.
Lol

The Wagner move was expected. Not much of a surprise there, but just feels like a lot more with the other news that hit today.

Dear Seattle Seahawks fans, I'm sorry that you're basically relegated to a lover scorned. I mean, he just wasn't that into you. You just couldn't provide him what he really needed.
thank God & greyhound he's gone

Yeah, with such a boring off season and no new NFL news of note, I just can’t wait for baseball season to start…..:ROFLMAO:

Draft picks yes, but weren't in any sort of cap struggle. Believe they were like 3rd or 4th entering the new league year in available cap space.

If there is one thing Schneider is damn good at its managing the cap.
I didn't word that very well. I more meant the percent of the cap they have had tied up in Russ/Bobby/Jamal/etc. Yes they had a decent amount of cap space this year, but they also had a number of significant free agents to resign and extremely limited paths to creating any more cap space via restructuring.

I'm not saying I love it. But I'm also saying I can see that this was a logical path to make a bet on being the best one. Will they be right? Time will tell.

Ya, I don't disagree. Bobby was destined to either be restructured or released based on his salary. My guess is that once they knew Russ was gone it sealed the deal for him. Chances are he will be too old to really be of use by the time all these moves, hopefully, provide a solid team.

Well a sad day for me having to go back listening to Seahawks via radio while fishing damn going to miss those Seahawk dinners at my fishing buddy's house on game day:oops:

Honestly, I think they should go get Minshew. At least it would pretty fun. They still wouldn't win, but it would be a fun kind of losing.

Let's crank this thread up 20%.

Two words: Deshaun Watson.

Thoughts?
Hard no. Even if you ignore the moral issue (which many of us wouldn't be able to do), the legal issues are legit. The league is going to have its own punishment. And finally, the Texans are still asking for a MINT in trade. And at the end of the day, he's got a FAR bigger cap hit than Russ. There's no way it pencils out.

Q: how many Hawks fans does it take to change a light bulb?
A: ten! one to change the bulb and nine to lament how great the old one was.

clearly an upgrade at QB for "in-win-now-mode" Denver. duh! for Seattle only time will tell if this was a savvy move. draft picks can be fools gold. Pete says he doesn't want to be part of a rebuild so maybe he has the heir to the thrown (pun / see what i did there?) waiting in the wings. could it be DeShaun Watson? Kyler Murray? Jimmy G? Please god not Carson Wentz or Mitch Turbisky or Andy Dalton! That hipster Gardner Minshew might fit in well here in Seattle...

for RW3 he leaves one 7-10 team for another. does he have a better chance at another ring as a Bronco in a division with Patrick Mahomes and Justin Herbert?

Okay! enough of this NFL talk... back to hockey. was just killing time between periods!
