I have enjoyed fly fishing for decades. I have always tried to help the 'young ones' get into it and become better fly fishers. I have not seen an increase of a lot of crowds of people fishing where I go. So I welcome any and all new people to the sport.
We need people to spend money to keep our retail establishments, guides, and manufactures in business. While I do not spend a lot of my money on fly fishing stuff, I do try to always spend some at the local small businesses near where I go fish. IMHO, every little bit helps them. I do not spend lavishly on very much. I do not care if others do. As long as I am alive and enjoying life, especially fishing, I am a happy camper.
One of my friends was a guide in Montana. He looked forward to those well-heeled East Coasters booking a trip with him. They fly in, spend bookoo bucks buying all new gear and clothes at a local business, go out fishing, give him a big tip, give him all those clothes and gear at the end of the trip, and then they fly out of town. Without them, he could not of made ends meet.
